Safety Information

Scam Knowledge

The more time you spend on Habbo, the more knowledge you will gain about safety related issues, but but when it comes to scammers you always have to be careful. Just when you think you know all the scams going they come up with a new one to catch you out. The best thing to remember is if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

What Is A Scammer?

A scammer is someone who steals your furni, accounts or creds, either by tricking you into giving them, them, or by finding out your password and stealing your account

But don't worry, once you learn the basics, it is easy to determine what's a scam and what isn’t.

If you keep to the following rules, there is no way you can be scammed...

* Never trust someone 100%, not all Habbo's are what they say they are.
* You need your password to access your own Habbo's NEVER tell anyone your password, ANYONE that asks for it is a scammer, the ONLY place you should ever type it is the 'Check In' Screen on www.habbohotel.com, www.habbohotel.ca or www.habbohotel.co.uk  .
* If you use MSN, AIM, Yahoo or any other instant message program, do NOT use that e-mail address as your Habbo e-mail address. Instead, have your ISP e-mail address, e.g. john.smith@btopenworld.com this way scammers can’t find out your password by getting into your e-mail.
* NEVER change your password or e-mail for anyone.
* NEVER download ANY program on a site that claims to be anything to do with Habbo, ONLY download programs that are linked to the www.habbohotel.com home page.
* NEVER accept ANY files over instant messenger such as MSN, AIM and Yahoo.
* If you must use hotmail & MSN make sure you set your country to something random like albania and change your secret question to QUESTION: fdwefhpwfuwhqferf ANSWER: ifo;wefweorfhfd;g.
* NEVER register on a Habbo Hotel 2, there is only ONE Habbo Hotel.
If you’re new to Habbo or don't understand some of those rules, don't worry the staff at Impetuous.net are here to help.

Never Trust Someone 100%, Not All Habbo's Are What They Say They Are

Habbo is virtual, as you may have guessed, so this means you don’t actually know who is sitting behind that screen, they could be a scammer who is pretending to be your friend so they can scam you. I know it is sad, but there are people out there who will do that.

You Need Your Password To Access Your Own Habbo's NEVER Tell Anyone Your Password, ANYONE That Asks For It Is A Scammer, The ONLY Place You Should Ever Type It Is The 'Check In' Screen On www.habbohotel.com, www.habbohotel.ca or www.habbohotel.co.uk  .

Although you might trust the Habbo 100%, they may even be your friend from school, BUT no matter what someone says to you should NEVER tell anyone your password. Your Habbo password is like your doorkey with it someone can just wander onto your account and do what they like. They can steal all your furni, message your friends, delete your rooms, delete your friends list and even use your account to scam other Habbo's getting it perm banned from Habbo. So remember NEVER tell anyone your password EVER

If You Use MSN, AIM, Yahoo Or Any Other Instant Message Program, do NOT Use That e-mail Address As Your Habbo e-mail Address. Instead, Have Your ISP e-mail Address, e.g. john.smith@btopenworld.com This Way Scammers Can’t Find Out Your Password By Getting Into Your e-mail.

If you ever forget your password then there is no need to worry because you can get it e-mailed back to you, helpful, but scammers can exploit this. If your e-mail is your MSN, Hotmail etc. then there the scammer can log onto your e-mail by answering the secret question. So what scammers do is this: They see what your secret question is, and say for example it is: What’s your dads middle name? Then they will say to you on msn, my dads middle name is so embarrassing, I bet you your dads middle name is so much better then mine, so you tell them your dads middle name, then they log into your e-mail account and get your Habbo password sent to them, they log onto your Habbo, change your password and they have your account.

NEVER Change Your Password Or e-mail For ANYONE.

If a Scammer say e-mail address on your Habbo to xxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxxx or any e-mail address and offer you free creds or furni/rares in return, it is a scam. You can't get free credits, or furni, the e-mail address they tell you to change yours to is really one they have access to, so all they have to do to get your password is go to the 'Check In' Screen and click 'forgotten your password'.

They then enter the name of your Habbo & the e-mail address they told you to enter. Your password is sent to there e-mail account, they can then log onto your account, change your password and steal your account and all your furni.

NEVER Download ANY Program On A Site That Claims To Be Anything To Do With Habbo, ONLY Download Programs That Are Linked To The www.habbohotel.com, www.habbohotel.ca or www.habbohotel.co.uk Homepages.

Scammers often say go to this site and download this program it will give you free creds, free rares, make you a Hobba etc... These programs will undoubtedly be keyloggers, keyloggers are nasty little programs that record every keystroke you make on your computer and sent that information to the scammer. The next time you log into Habbo your username and password will be sent to the scammer. They can then log into your account, change the password steal the account and all your funri. So NEVER download anything. The only exception to this rule is downloads that are linked from the www.habbohotel.com Homepage, Habbo occasionally post links to anti-virus sites, keylogger removal sites or firewall sites. It is safe to visit these sites and download.

NEVER Accept ANY Files Over Instant Messenger Such As MSN, AIM & Yahoo.

You may think someone is your friend but many Habbo's will pretend to be your friend, gain your trust then try to scam you. They ask you for your MSN address so you can chat off Habbo, then they say "I have a picture of me would you like to see it", or "I have this cool game, you should have a play" So they send you a file over MSN, AIM or Yahoo, when you open the file it installs a keylogger on your computer.

Keyloggers are nasty little programs that record every keystroke you make on your computer and sent that information to the scammer. The next time you log into Habbo your username and password will be sent to the scammer. They can then log into your account, change the password steal the account and all your funri.

It is best to never accept ANY files on MSN if you must accept files then scan them with a reliable anti-virus program, you can get AVG for free simply go to www.grisoft.com download & install.

If You Must Use Hotmail & MSN Make Sure You Set Your Country To Something Random Like Albania & Change Your Secret Question To, QUESTION: fdwefhpwfuwhqferf ANSWER: ifo;wefweorfhfd;g.

Hotmail isn't very safe, all someone has to do to access your account is enter the country you live in then answer your secret question. Most people put there real country and a question they can remember, this is a bad idea, anyone that chats to you and knows your hotmail e-mail could try to log on, find out what your secret question then try and get you to tell them the answer. Say your secret question is "Favorite pets name?" they just say something like " My stupid cat is annoying me, do you have any pets?" You then tell them the names of all the pets you have had, they are then free to log into you Hotmail. Stopping this is quite simple, set your country to something random like Albaina and then set you secret question to something like:

Question - sdfh;esefewofhsdkjsdbvboiwrt3qrher;gdhge

Answer - dsj;artuy34ohgfdvhdfigolu45roe;igj;o54ty

BUT make sure you write your password down somewhere safe as you wont be able to retrieve it in the normal way either.

NEVER Register On A Habbo Hotel 2, There Is Only ONE Habbo Hotel.

People pretend there is a new Habbo Hotel, you go to the 'new' Habbo and it says something like "Log in with your Habbo from .com to receive 50 free creds" but the site asks for your old details on habbo, you type them in and click log in, this then e-mails your username and password to the site owner, they can then log onto your account, change your password and steal your account and all your furni. THERE IS ONLY ONE UK HABBO SITE DON'T BE FOOLED. If you didn't type www.habbohotel.com, www.habbohotel.ca or www.habbohotel.co.uk   in the web address bar then it isn't Habbo UK.

Habbo Scams

Furni Scams

-If You Give Me Some Furni, I'll Will Give You A Job That Pays

Think about this, how many jobs do you have to pay for in real life?  The Habbo offering the job is just after your furni, there are jobs on Habbo that pay, but you should get paid to work not have to pay to work.

If you encounter a Habbo that says "If you give me some furni, I'll will give you a job that pays". Send a call for help to alert an on-duty Hobba, then leave the room.  If you are looking for a job try looking on the popular list for rooms that say **JOBS** but beware not all jobs pay when they say they do.

* I Can Clone Your Furni

NO-ONE can double, clone or triple furni it is IMPOSSIBLE no matter what the Habbo says.  Sometimes they will say if you put it in my room I will double it, sometimes they say that if you trade it to them but click accept 6 times it will double it as they have a 'code'.  It doesn't matter what supposed method they use they are scamming you.  If you see ANYONE offering to double, clone or triple furni send a call for help to alert an on-duty Hobba.  The Scammer will then be perm banned from Habbo for scamming.

-I'll Paint Your Room For Furni

Other Habbo's cannot paint your room or change the floor, unless they buy you wall and floor as a gift purchased from the Catalogue, many scammers exploit the fact that not everyone can buy credits and offer to buy wall and floor for Habbo's in return for furni, they then take the furni and run without buying the wall and floor.  If you see anyone offering to buy wall & floor for creds send a call for help to alert an on-duty Hobba

-Race To Win Furni

There are lots of racing games on Habbo Hotel, races where you get food out of fridges, races where you rush to stand on a doormat and even 'musical chairs' (without the music though) but try to avoid race games that allow you to pay to move up or pay to stay as these are just a way for the owner of the room to get furni out of you. These games and races are great fun, but not all the Hobbo's who run them are honest don't be surprised if they don't give you a prize when you win, try racing just for fun and not to make furni.  .

-Trade Me A Rare I Will Give You A Pet In A Present

Every Habbo wants a pet and some mean scammers have been exploiting this fact.  They offer to trade you a pet in a present, for a rare.  You do the trade, they give you the present, you give them the rare in a straight trade, then they leave.  Only when you open the present it turns out to be a stool or some other 1 cred item of furni.  DON'T TRADE FOR PETS, you will loose your furni and there is no proof that you ever had it.  If you have fallen for this scam please go to scambusters and report the scammer.

-I Will Buy You Creds For A Rare

The scammer offers to buy you credits in return for a rare item of furni, so you give them the rare then the leave without buying the creds, Habbo Hotel advise against trading rares for creds because it is so easy to scam this way, there is no evidence that you were scammed so it is almost impossible to catch the scammer, if you have been scammed in this way or think someone is doing this scam report..

Password Scams

I Can Make You A Hobba Just Give Me Your Habbo Password

No they can't, the only person that can make you a Hobba is the Head Hobba & she will NEVER ask you for your password.  So if someone comes up to you on Habbo and offers to make you a Hobba in return for your password use the call for help and call for an on-duty Hobba then leave the room.

-Tell Me Your Password & I'll Give You Free Habbo Credits

There are NO free credits on Habbo Hotel, and anyone that offers you them is a scammer.  The ONLY place you should ever type your password is the 'Check In' Screen on www.habbohotel.com.  Report ANYONE that asks for your password to an on-duty Hobba by calling for help, then leave the room.

-If You Change Your Password To xxxxx (Or Anything Else) You Will Get Free Credits"

If anyone Habbo asks you to change your password to something they specify, don't do it they are trying to steal your account, if you do what they ask then the scammer will then be able to sign into the hotel as you. If anyone asks you to change your password use the call for help and call for an on-duty Hobba then leave the room.

-Go To This Website You Can Get Free Habbo Credits"

Scammers make websites that offer a variety of goodies in an attempt to get you to give them your Habbo password, sometimes they offer free creds, sometimes free rares BUT they are all SCAMS.  If a website asks for your password DON'T enter it report it to scambusters.  If you come across any Habbo advertising a web site that offers free Habbo Stuff then use the call for help and call for an on-duty Hobba then leave the room.

-Shout Out Your Password It Comes Out As ******/Bobba

It DOESN'T it comes out as your password.  NEVER type your password on Habbo, the only place you should ever type it is the 'Check In' screen on www.habbohotel.com.  If you see anyone trying to get passwords this way send a call for help and call for an on-duty Hobba then leave the room

-Type Your Password But Don't Press Enter Press Alt 013 It Is A Secret Code

Alt 013 works the same way as enter so you will be typing your password so that the whole room can see it. If you see anyone trying to get passwords this way send a call for help and call for an on-duty Hobba then leave the room

E-Mail Scams

-Reply To This E-Mail To Become A Hobba

The only way to become a Hobba is to apply to become one on the Habbo Home Page, the Head Hobba will NEVER ask for your password or ask you to install a program to give you Hobba tools, if you receive ANY e-mail about becoming a Hobba and you haven't applied; delete it.  ALWAYS delete ANY e-mail that asks for your password or asks you to install a program and report the e-mail address it came from to scambusters.

Change Your E-Mail To xxx@xxxxx.com (Or Any Other E-Mail) To Get Loads Of Credits"

If you see anyone on Habbo saying this then send a call for help and call for an on-duty Hobba then leave the room

Phone Scams

-Ring This Number & Type In This Code & You Will Get Free Habbo Credits

There are NO free creds on Habbo Hotel the number they tell you to ring is the Habbo Credits Line & the 'code' they give you is their own Habbo Credits Code.  You will be charged for the credits but they will go in the scammers purse, & your parents might not be too happy when the phone bill comes and they see that you have been buying credits without asking.  REMEMBER NO FREE CREDITS If you see anyone trying to fool people with this scam then you should send a call for help and call for an on-duty Hobba then leave the room.

Other Scams

-The Disappearing Throne Scam

This is an evil scam & quite a new one what happens is one your Habbo 'friends' uses program to put your thrones in the wall of your room (they may do it with other rares).  They then offer to lend you some of their thrones to replace the ones that were stolen. BUT instead of putting their own thrones down they simply take your thrones out of the wall.  Then a couple of days later they come back to you and say "I really need those thrones back and you give them the thrones unaware that they are actually giving the scammer your own furni.

This scam works because as only some of the furni is missing, you think you have been scammed you don't even think it could be in the walls.  SO if you go to your room and there is furni missing send a call for help and ask for a Tech Hobba to come & check the walls of your room for furni.

-Trade Me This Present It Has A Super Rare In It

Super rares don't come in presents, you will be paying loads of rares for a stool or a duck, if you see someone shouting this on Habbo send a call for help to alert an on-duty Hobba & leave the room.

-Offer Me For My Trophy It Is Signed By Habbo Staff

They will show you the trophy in a room, and sure enough it will be signed by Habbo Staff, but when you pay a rare for it and get it back to your room it will just be a normal trophy, they swap them over so they keep the Staff Trophy & you get the normal one.  DON'T trade for Staff trophies if you see anyone offering Staff Trophies for rares then report them to scambusters

-Offer Me For My Linking Imperials.

They offer to trade you a set of Imperial Teleporters but when you get them to your room they don't link, always ask to see that ALL teleporters link before trading them.
